The area around Dorim-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, will be reborn as a large complex with up to 45 floors and 1,600 households.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government said on the 9th that it finalized the expedited integrated plan for redevelopment of the area around 133-1 Dorim-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu.
Formed in the 1960s as a residential area behind the quasi-industrial zone of Yeongdeungpo, the site has been left as a low-rise, aging residential area, excluded from surrounding developments such as redevelopment of former factory sites around Yeongdeungpo Station and the Sin-gil redevelopment promotion district to the south.
The city plans to create a transit-oriented residential complex by adding Dorim Sageori Station on the Sinansan Line. Setting the basic direction as "a residential complex that leads future change by blending the vitality of a station area with tree-lined shaded streets," it prepared a comprehensive plan that includes creating green and pedestrian spaces, reorganizing the transportation system, and expanding social overhead capital (SOC) for daily life.
Kim Chang-gyu, head of the Urban Space Headquarters at the Seoul Metropolitan Government, said, "The area around 133-1 Dorim-dong is expected to undergo major changes with the addition of Dorim Sageori Station on the Sinansan Line and surrounding development," adding, "This expedited integrated plan reflects the purpose and principles of the 'shade-walking zone.'"
