Hyundai Engineering said on the 8th that it received the corporate partnership special award of the "2026 Seoul Metropolitan Government Garden City Award" for the "Plan B Garden" it created at North Seoul Dream Forest in Gangbuk District, Seoul.
The Plan B Garden was prepared to create a habitat for bees in the city and provide an ecological space for citizens. Plants are arranged so that flowering can continue from spring to fall, creating an environment for bees to gather nectar and pollen, and an ecological education program on biodiversity for citizens is also being run.
It also links a self-reliance support program for youths with borderline intellectual functioning. Hyundai Engineering is providing vocational training related to urban beekeeping, including bee habitat and garden management and honey harvesting.
Hyundai Engineering created the first Plan B Garden at North Seoul Dream Forest last year and opened the second garden at Boramae Park in Dongjak District, Seoul, in May this year. Next year, it plans to add a third garden, operating a total of three locations in downtown Seoul.
A Hyundai Engineering official said, "The Plan B Garden is a public-interest garden that combines urban ecosystem restoration, support for the self-reliance of the socially vulnerable, and citizen-participation ecological education," adding, "We will continue to develop a sustainable social contribution model based on the value of space and energy."
