Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND) said on the 7th that it will take part in the World Smart City Expo (WSCE), to be held at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO) from the 9th to the 11th, and will host: ▲ training for invited partner countries ▲ a promotion and exhibition booth ▲ a results briefing and a meeting with corporations.
The training delegation from partner countries will consist of about 20 government and city officials from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Poland, which are partner countries for the 2026 K-City Network planning projects. During the program, they will share Korea's Smart City policies, technologies, and urban development experience, hold working-level consultations by project, and facilitate exchanges with domestic institutions and corporations. In particular, by reviewing technologies and solutions in urban development, transportation, and integrated control, they plan to flesh out the plans now being prepared and identify future cooperation tasks.
Also during WSCE, KIND and the Korea Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement (KAIA) will jointly run the "K-City Network global cooperation program promotion and exhibition booth." The booth will present an overview of the program, its progress, key results, and how to participate.
They will exhibit key deliverables from KIND's planning-type projects and Smart City solutions from domestic corporations participating in KAIA's overseas demonstration projects. They will showcase various technologies, including traffic analysis and signal control, incident detection, and water management and disaster response, and will also offer consultations on participation to domestic and international corporations and institutions.
On Sept. 10, they will hold the "2026 K-City Network global Smart City partnership forum (subtitle: K-City, meeting global business opportunities)." The forum will present to Korean corporations the interim results and major development concepts of three projects: "Kazakhstan Alatau Smart Town," "Uzbekistan Tashkent new airport aerotropolis (Aero-City)," and "Poland Lublin Smart City."
At the subsequent corporate meeting, partner country officials, implementing agencies, and interested domestic corporations will meet to discuss potential participation, investment, and cooperation in future projects. Through this, they plan to seek opportunities to link planning results to follow-up projects such as demonstrations, development, and investment.
A KIND official said, "At this WSCE, we will link invited training, results exhibitions, and a corporate meeting to spread the achievements of the K-City Network and broaden touchpoints with Korean corporations," adding, "We will continue to strengthen linkages between partner countries and Korean corporations so that we do not stop at planning but can lead to overseas expansion by Korean corporations and follow-up projects."
