Gaepo Useong 7th Apartment in Ilwon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, will be rebuilt with up to 39 floors and 1,134 households.
The Seoul city government said on the 4th that the 18th Integrated Deliberation Committee on Urban Renewal Projects, held on the 3rd, gave conditional approval to the deliberation agenda for the reconstruction of Gaepo Useong 7th Apartment at 615 Ilwon-dong, Gangnam-gu.
Under the reconstruction plan, the complex will be built with five basement levels and 39 above-ground floors, with a total floor area of about 250,000 square meters. Of the 1,134 households in total, 140 will be public housing.
Green spaces and pedestrian areas around the complex will also be expanded. A 1,450.5-square-meter pocket park will be created where it meets Gaepo-ro, and a 10-meter-wide consolidation green space will be secured on the west side of the complex.
The pocket park and the consolidation green space will be linked with nearby walkways to create a green and pedestrian axis extending from the complex toward Daemosan. Trees and other plantings will be arranged along the main walkways to provide shaded walking environments.
On the south side of the complex, community facilities such as play and care facilities and a small library will be placed and consolidated with external walkways so that nearby residents can also use them.
Considering that the maximum height will rise to 39 floors, the Integrated Deliberation Committee called for a site plan that appropriately secures access to sunlight.
After this integrated review, the Gaepo Useong 7th reconstruction project will proceed through procedures such as approval of the project implementation plan and approval of the management and disposal plan before breaking ground.
Myeong No-jun, head of housing for the Seoul city government, said, "Through the Gaepo Useong 7th reconstruction, we plan to promote the supply of 1,134 dwellings while also expanding parks, green spaces, and community facilities to improve the living environment for local residents," adding, "We will actively support the project so it can proceed smoothly in accordance with the planned procedures."
