Seoul Housing and Urban Development Corporation (SH) and the Construction Association of Korea Seoul Chapter discussed expanding public housing supply, safety management at construction sites, and easing industry regulations.
SH said on the 2nd that it held a roundtable with the Construction Association of Korea Seoul Chapter to hear about current issues and challenges that construction companies in Seoul face on sites.
Participants discussed ways to expand public housing supply, safety management measures at sites during heat waves, and mutual cooperation between general contractors and specialty contractors.
The roundtable was arranged as a follow-up to the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed by the two organizations in April last year for "advancing the construction industry, improving regulations, and leading a culture of shared growth."
Since signing the agreement, SH and the Construction Association of Korea Seoul Chapter have operated a working-level council to discuss institutional improvement measures that can be felt at construction sites. In January this year, they jointly released research findings on "appropriately reflecting safety management expenses and promoting the use of smart safety equipment."
Hwang Sang-ha, SH president, said, "Today's roundtable was a meaningful opportunity to directly hear the practical difficulties felt by the construction industry," adding, "With the newly launched SH Future Vision Committee at the center, we will actively improve unnecessary regulations and continue efforts for the development of the regional construction industry and win-win cooperation."
