DL Construction said on the 31st that it appointed Chief Safety Officer (CSO) Ha Jeong-min as its new CEO. After taking office as CEO, Ha will continue to serve concurrently as CSO.
Born in 1974, Ha joined Daelim Construction (now DL E&C) in 2003 as a safety management employee and has handled safety-related work at construction sites and headquarters for more than 20 years. Ha worked at six sites, including Saemangeum, the Dodam–Yeongcheon electrified railway, and the Sejong–Anseong expressway. At headquarters, Ha served as Head of Team for the safety education operations team, the technical safety team, and the safety and health team. Ha also holds a professional engineer license in construction safety.
After serving as Head of Team at DL E&C, Ha moved to DL Construction and was appointed CSO last year. DL Construction said it plans to strengthen field-centered management and its safety management system by selecting an internal leader with on-site experience and expertise in safety as CEO.
While serving as CSO, Ha led the establishment of a safety execution manual system that databased about 22,000 construction accident cases and risk factors and preventive measures for 940 types of work. The system enables on-site workers and managers to use mobile devices to check risk factors, accident cases, and preventive measures by work type.
Ha also pushed efforts to review risk factors across the entire business process, including design, construction, quality, and contracts, and to refine safety standards and work procedures. The company integrated scattered safety management systems by site and improved the risk assessment method and standards for safety management costs by major processes.
Along with the CEO appointment, DL Construction also selected four new executives. Two were born in the late 1970s and two in the early 1980s, all in their 40s. All have worked inside the company, and DL Construction said it will place these younger executives at the forefront to speed organizational change and responses to new business environments.
