A worker fell to his death at a public housing construction site in Cheongju, North Chungcheong, where Kolon Global is the contractor.
Kolon Global said on the 31st in a regulatory filing that on the 11th at the Cheongju Dongnam public housing construction site, a worker fell while dismantling a safety guardrail to install a vertical safety net for a break room.
The worker, who had been receiving treatment after the accident, died on the 29th. Kolon Global reported the details to the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) on the 29th after confirming the worker's death.
The Cheongju branch of the Daejeon Regional Employment and Labor Office issued a partial work-suspension order at the site the same day. Police and the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) are investigating the cause of the accident and whether safety measures were in place.
Kolon Global plans to draw up measures to prevent a recurrence based on the findings of the investigation.
