Vice Minister Kim Ei-tak of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport visited Namyangju, Gyeonggi, on the 28th and said, "What is as important as the speed of supplying dwellings is improving transportation and living conditions that local residents can feel," adding, "While actively managing transportation improvement measures for new housing sites, please reflect community opinions carefully so the area can thrive together with the development."
Namyangju is where the Namyangju urban project, a new housing site for 21,700 households released in the Aug. 13 supply plan, is underway, and where development of the third-phase new town Namyangju Wangsuk district is being promoted. Namyangju Wangsuk Districts 1 and 2 will provide 80,000 households, the largest among the third-phase new towns.
Vice Minister Kim said, "To stabilize housing in the Seoul metropolitan area, the third-phase new towns must serve as the central axis of the supply base," adding, "We will also proactively respond to various issues that may arise during the development of large-scale new towns to accelerate supply." Kim also urged, "As promised to the public, please carry out safety, quality, and process management so that high-quality dwellings in excellent locations can be supplied quickly."
In a lecture that followed for Namyangju City Hall employees, Vice Minister Kim emphasized, "The core of the Aug. 13 plan is to supply sufficient dwellings swiftly so the public can feel the results," adding, "We will do our best, working closely with local governments, to minimize inconvenience to residents and ensure the plan proceeds to actual groundbreaking and move-ins."
