Seoul's small-scale housing maintenance project "Moahousing" has delivered its first completed complex.
Moahousing is a small-scale maintenance project introduced in 2022 in which block-unit owners in aging low-rise residential areas, where large-scale redevelopment is difficult, pool their land to build multifamily dwellings.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government said on the 27th that the Hanyang Yeonlip Moahousing complex in Gwangjin District was completed on the 25th. Hanyang Yeonlip broke ground eight months after integrated deliberation and was completed two years and six months after groundbreaking. Move-ins begin next month.
Hanyang Yeonlip, which had been a low-rise residential area with 99 households, was transformed into an apartment complex of four buildings with two basement levels and up to 15 above-ground floors, totaling 215 households. This was the result of improved project conditions by applying eased height restrictions following improvements to Seoul's Moahousing review standards.
Myeong No-jun, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Housing Bureau, said, "Moahousing and Moa Town are being ramped up with a goal of breaking ground on 40,000 units by 2031," and added, "We will continue to expand Moahousing and Moa Town as one pillar of private maintenance projects through deregulation and administrative support."
