Kumho E&C said on the 21st that it signed a construction contract with Samsung Electronics for the "Samsung Electronics Fläkt Korea plant new construction."
The project is to establish a domestic production base for FläktGroup, a German HVAC company acquired by Samsung Electronics.
The Samsung Electronics Fläkt Korea plant will be built with one aboveground floor and a total floor area of 23,588 square meters at 70, Amkor-ro, Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, South Jeolla. It will house the main heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) factory, as well as office space, a warehouse, laboratories, and break areas. The target completion is Feb. 2028.
HVAC is a system that integrates cooling, heating, ventilation, and air quality management, and is used in industrial facilities such as artificial intelligence (AI) data centers and semiconductor plants.
Samsung Electronics plans to expand the HVAC production function at the Gwangju site through the new production line.
A Kumho E&C official said, "Through this project, we have broadened our construction experience in advanced industrial facilities," and added, "We will carry out the work based on our accumulated technological capabilities and construction experience."
