Samsung C&T said on the 20th that Raemian landscaping won two main prizes in the environmental institutional sector at the IDEA (International Design Excellence Award) 2026 in the United States, one of the world's three major design awards.
The IDEA Design Award is North America's most prestigious design competition, co-hosted by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and the U.S. weekly BusinessWeek, and is regarded as one of the world's three major design awards along with Germany's "Red Dot Design Award" and "iF Design Award." Each year, it comprehensively evaluates design innovation, user benefits, social responsibility and aesthetics to select the best design in each institutional sector.
Samsung C&T submitted two works—"Wind Library Garden" at Raemian One Perla in Seocho-gu, Seoul, and "Blue Forest Garden" at Jamsil Raemian I'Park in Songpa-gu—and both won main prizes.
The award-winning "Wind Library Garden" is a garden created as an outdoor book café connected to a small library by using the traditional Korean landscaping concept of borrowed scenery (cha-gyeong). It was designed to draw the surrounding nature and complex landscape into the garden so residents can enjoy a relaxed daily life with books. Cha-gyeong is an architectural technique that borrows the outside scenery and brings it into the building.
"Blue Forest Garden" is a garden arranged so that visitors can enjoy panoramic views from four different positions centered on a streamlined tea house and viewing deck. It is characterized by a design that lets residents experience changing landscapes depending on their movement paths and where they linger.
Jang Byung-yoon, head of the dwellings construction division (vice president) at Samsung C&T, said, "We will continue to present differentiated landscaping designs that can deliver Raemian's unique residential experience to residents while enhancing the spatial value of the complex."
