Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) said on the 13th that President Lee Seong-hun disposed of 2 of the 3 dwellings he owned while working at the Blue House.
LH sent a text message to reporters the same day, saying, "President Lee completed the sale of the apartment in Dogok-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, in early June," explaining the move. LH said, "For the Sejong apartment, a sale contract was signed in May, and with the tenant's remaining lease period, the transfer of title is scheduled to be completed at the end of Oct."
As questions about President Lee's multiple-dwelling ownership were raised mainly by the opposition recently, LH separately confirmed that Lee had disposed of the dwellings. Park Seong-hoon, senior spokesperson of the People Power Party, on the 12th, regarding the controversy over unauthorized expansion of a multi-unit dwelling by former Blue House Chunchugwan Director Kim Sang-ho, said, "Lee Seong-hun, former presidential secretary for land and infrastructure who owned three dwellings, smoothly moved to become LH president while still owning multiple dwellings."
While serving as presidential secretary for land and infrastructure at the Blue House, President Lee owned multiple dwellings and, upon taking office as LH president last month, faced criticism that this ran counter to the current administration's policy line of excluding multiple-dwelling owners from real estate policy.
