Daewoo Engineering & Construction said on the 10th that it will pursue a strategic collaboration with ARUP, a structural design and engineering corporations, to win the Mok-dong District 8 reconstruction and maintenance project (hereafter Mok-dong District 8). ARUP, headquartered in London, is a global engineering corporations active in more than 100 countries and is recognized for its technological prowess in supertall and large-scale mixed-use development projects. ARUP handled structural design and engineering for world-renowned buildings such as the 679-meter-tall "Merdeka 118" in Malaysia, the 632-meter-tall "Shanghai Tower" in China, and Singapore's landmark "Marina Bay Sands."
Based on its collaboration with ARUP, Daewoo Engineering & Construction plans to present optimized structural system reviews tailored to Mok-dong District 8's building plan with a maximum height of 180 meters, along with measures to secure structural safety that can respond to various external conditions such as earthquakes and strong winds. Through this, the company said it will simultaneously pursue a skyline that enhances the complex's symbolism and the creation of a safe residential environment that residents can feel.
A Daewoo Engineering & Construction official said, "Through collaboration with ARUP, which has world-class supertall structural technology, we will further strengthen our technological competitiveness to create a future-oriented residential complex that represents Mok-dong, going beyond simple reconstruction," and added, "We will propose a differentiated landmark complex that prioritizes safety and harmonizes with the urban landscape."
