Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) said on the 16th it will prioritize ordering section 1 of the construction to develop the Yongin national industrial complex for semiconductors. The Yongin advanced system semiconductor national industrial complex is a national strategic project that will cluster six semiconductor plants and corporations in materials, parts, and equipment, three power generation facilities, and industrial gas supply facilities on a site of about 7.78 million square meters across Cheoin District in Yongin.
Section 1 covers a site that includes the first semiconductor fab and spans about 3.45 million square meters, with construction costs of about 1.086 trillion won. LH is aiming to break ground on the first semiconductor fab by 2028.
The ordering method combines construction management (CM) with a fast-track approach. The plan is to reflect the construction manager's on-site know-how from the design stage and carry out the design and related administrative procedures in parallel.
Starting with the bid notice that day, LH will accept bids in Sep. and select a construction manager in Nov., with plans to begin the development work within the year.
