The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said Minister Kim Yun-duk on the afternoon of the 14th presented a letter of appointment to Lee Seong-hun, the new president of the Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH). The Minister asked LH to play a responsible role in stabilizing people's dwellings and achieving balanced national growth.
Emphasizing the speed and results of dwellings supply, the Minister told Lee, "Mobilize the organization's full capabilities for dwellings supply to push forward the third new town project with a sense of speed, and through close on-site communication, show urban supply outcomes that meet the public's expectations."
He also did not forget to call for qualitative innovation in public rental dwellings. The Minister asked for ample construction of spacious and pleasant rental dwellings in convenient and superior locations so that people from diverse groups, including young adults, newlyweds, and older adults, can move in and live with peace of mind. He added a request to establish seamless quality verification and thorough safety measures at every stage of building homes.
In addition, the Minister stressed that LH's role is more important than ever at this time for implementing the three mega projects and creating a foundation for balanced regional growth. "Provide the necessary sites in a timely manner for developments such as the Yongin and Honam-region semiconductor industrial complexes to support corporations' investment, and actively leverage the know-how and capabilities LH has built up to create cities with living conditions for settlement in the regions," he said.
He then added that for LH to faithfully carry out this fundamental role, the LH reform plan must also be wrapped up well, saying, "Please also stay on top of the LH reform tasks."
The Minister also said, "Let the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) and LH work closely together as one team to produce results the public can feel," asking for joint efforts for the successful implementation of the popular sovereignty government's policy tasks.
