On the 6th, new President Lee Seong-hun of Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) said, "Homes should no longer be targets of speculation but public goods that sustain life, and they must be affordable for the public," emphasizing expanded supply to stabilize the dwellings market.
At his inauguration ceremony at the headquarters in Jinju, South Gyeongsang, on the 6th, Lee said, "LH's mission is to quickly supply good homes that people are waiting for, establish a housing ladder for young people and newlyweds, and lay the foundation for balanced development and for the base of strategic industries that will lead Korea's new leap forward." Lee took office as LH's seventh president, and his term runs through July 2029.
The five key priorities Lee cited are ▲ accelerating dwellings supply ▲ innovating locations and quality of public dwellings ▲ supporting balanced regional growth ▲ an AI transformation and ESG management ▲ safety-first management.
Lee said, "Right now, it is an important duty of LH to reduce by even a single day the time people wait for a home," adding that LH will innovate the entire project process—approvals, compensation, site development work—to dramatically speed up dwellings supply. In particular, he plans to deliver results in urban dwellings supply through urban complex projects, public renewal projects, development of idle sites, and expanded purchases of new and existing rental dwellings.
Lee also emphasized quality innovation for public dwellings. He aims to shift the paradigm so that public rental dwellings become "the homes people choose first" and "a confident housing option for working-class and middle-class residents."
Lee said, "We will prioritize placing public rental dwellings in superior locations such as transit hubs and expand mid-sized units, while enhancing residents' quality of life with tailored housing services for young people, newlyweds, and older adults."
Lee also stressed LH's role in balanced regional growth. To smoothly advance the three mega projects—semiconductors, physical AI, and AI data centers—he said, "We will work with corporations to rapidly develop world-class industrial complexes and, in parallel, build supporting cities with top-tier residential, educational, and cultural conditions."
At the same time, Lee emphasized, "While pushing housing policy with speed, we will enhance LH's public nature and managerial efficiency together, so we can be reborn as a public corporation trusted by the public."
