A worker died while working at an SK ecoplant construction site. SK disclosed on the 2nd that a serious accident occurred at its subsidiary SK ecoplant.
The accident occurred on the 1st at the construction site for the Pyeongtaek–Osong double-track phase 2, section 2. The deceased worker is believed to have been caught while inspecting a conveyor belt at the site.
Police and the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) are investigating the cause of the accident. SK ecoplant plans to draw up measures to prevent a recurrence.
The project is a rail infrastructure initiative to relieve bottlenecks where the Gyeongbu high-speed line and the Suseo–Pyeongtaek high-speed line merge. It is building about 10.6 kilometers of underground tunnels, ventilation shafts, and more across parts of Asan and Cheonan in South Chungcheong Province, with completion targeted for June 2028.
