The Seoul city government approved with amendments a plan to change the redevelopment promotion plan for Zone 6-4-1 in the Sewoon Redevelopment Promotion District and will push to create a residential complex combining 999 apartment units, officetels, retail facilities, and community infrastructure.
The Seoul city government said on the 1st it held the sixth Urban Redevelopment Committee meeting and approved with amendments the decision (change) plan for the redevelopment promotion plan for Zone 6-4-1 in the Sewoon Redevelopment Promotion District.
The site is a general commercial area near Chungmuro Station, and through this plan change, a 19,418.2-square-meter promotion zone will be newly designated, and a mixed-use development combining residential, office (officetel), and retail functions will be pursued.
According to the plan, 999 apartment units in a 49-story building will be supplied, and officetels, retail facilities, and community infrastructure will also be built. Retail will be placed on the first floor, and the plan calls for linking with a nearby urban park and open green space to improve pedestrian access.
The plan also includes public rental industrial facilities. It reflects a public contribution plan to support the resettlement of existing downtown industry tenants and to promote coexistence with industry workers.
An Dae-hee, head of the Urban Space Headquarters at the Seoul city government, said, "This plan change will serve as an opportunity to turn underused, aging land on the south side of the Sewoon District into a complex space that combines urban housing, green space, and industrial coexistence functions," adding, "We will secure a base for urban housing supply and open green spaces and for coexistence with existing downtown industries so the Sewoon District can establish itself as a key hub of a green ecological downtown."
