Ssangyong E&C said on the 30th that it was finally selected on the 23rd as the construction contractor for the "Donghae New Port coal pier construction project," ordered by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' Donghae Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries through the Public Procurement Service.
This project, to be carried out in the waters off Guho-dong in Donghae, Gangwon, will build an exclusive pier where 100,000 DWT-class large vessels can berth. The total project cost is about 101 billion won, including value-added taxes.
The bidding was conducted under a comprehensive evaluation lowest-bid system that assesses not only price but also execution capability and construction plans. The construction period is five years (60 months) from the start of work.
A Ssangyong E&C official said, "Based on the technology and construction experience we have accumulated in port and marine infrastructure, we will successfully build high-quality, safe port facilities and help enhance the nation's logistics competitiveness."
