Daewoo Engineering & Construction said on the 12th that it has completed the Indorama fertilizer plant unit 3 in Nigeria.
Indorama fertilizer plant unit 3 is an ammonia production facility with a capacity of 2,300 tons per day and a urea and urea fertilizer production facility with a capacity of 4,000 tons per day. The contract amount is about $265 million, and the construction period totals 32 months from Oct. 2023 to May 2026.
Nigeria holds Africa's largest natural gas reserves and is actively promoting the development of a fertilizer industry that uses them. Indorama fertilizer plant unit 3 is expected to help expand Nigeria's fertilizer production capacity and improve agricultural productivity.
A Daewoo Engineering & Construction official said, "The early achievement of the key milestones and the successful completion of Indorama fertilizer plant unit 3 is a result achieved based on the experience accumulated in executing projects in Nigeria and on our local network," and added, "We will also actively pursue follow-up projects and expansion into the African market."
Meanwhile, Daewoo Engineering & Construction has taken part in building national core industries and living infrastructure by carrying out a total of 75 projects worth about $10.8 billion in Nigeria since entering the market in 1983.
