Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND) said on the 10th that on the 28th of last month (local time) it attended a groundbreaking ceremony for an advanced Smart Logistics center development project and a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing ceremony at the Amata City Long Thanh advanced industrial complex in Long Thanh, Dong Nai Province, Vietnam.
The project will be carried out by investing a total of $41.3 million (about 56 billion won) on a site of about 4 hectares (ha) within the Amata City Long Thanh industrial complex, a leading industrial park developer in Vietnam, and is a project to create factory and logistics warehouse rental facilities. About 70% of the entire facility is planned to be composed of refrigerated and frozen logistics warehouses (Cold Storage), and it is expected to function as core logistics infrastructure in southern Vietnam that responds to increasing high value-added logistics demand such as food, pharmaceuticals, and fresh logistics.
JEIL Construction Co. will be responsible for development and operation, and the PIS (Plant·Infrastructure·Smart City) fund managed by Korea Investment Real Asset Management and KIND will participate as co-investors. KIND plans to invest 10% of the project's equity to support its implementation.
The Long Thanh area, where the project site is located, is drawing attention as a key logistics hub centered on the Long Thanh International Airport now under construction, linking Ho Chi Minh City and Cai Mep Port, the largest deep-water port in southern Vietnam. With the airport's opening and expansion of industrial park development in the future, demand for logistics and storage is expected to continue to grow.
