Hyundai Engineering said on the 8th that it had received a letter of award (LOA) from Kazakhstan's state-owned gas company QazaqGaz for the "Karachaganak gas processing facility" project.
The project will build a gas processing facility with an annual capacity of 5 billion ㎥, marking Hyundai Engineering's first entry into Kazakhstan's petrochemical plant market.
Hyundai Engineering will handle engineering and procurement for the project. Construction will be carried out by the local subsidiary of the Italian EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) company SICIM, which is set to join as a consortium partner.
With this order, Hyundai Engineering has expanded into all three key Central Asian countries—Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and now Kazakhstan.
Hyundai Engineering said it has carried out plant projects in Central Asia, including Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, and that this order was secured based on its experience and technology in the gas processing plant sector.
A Hyundai Engineering official said, "This order once again proves our capabilities and technology in executing gas processing plants," adding, "We plan to carry out the project based on the experience we have accumulated in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)."
