Hoban Group is accelerating its push into the European power infrastructure market in line with the global energy transition.
Hoban Group said on the 21st that Planning Chief Kim Dae-heon visited Denmark and the Netherlands for a week starting on the 16th, met with executives of global energy corporations, and visited the Taihan Cable & Solution Europe headquarters to review local business strategies.
The on-site management was pursued as a strategy to strengthen Taihan Cable & Solution's business competitiveness in the European market and respond to changes in the global energy industry.
Hoban Group, responding to the era of major energy transition, has recently been accelerating its drive into the global power infrastructure market together with Taihan Cable & Solution, seeking to expand business synergies.
Kim met with executives of a global renewable energy developer in Copenhagen, Denmark, to discuss cooperation plans.
At the meeting, the parties shared the construction status of Taihan Cable & Solution's second Dangjin subsea cable plant, slated for completion in 2027, and the progress of the high-voltage direct current (HVDC) subsea cable business, and exchanged views on potential project collaboration and ways to expand information sharing.
Recently in Europe, as renewable energy expands and demand for cross-border power grid consolidation increases, HVDC-based transmission grid construction has been actively pursued. Accordingly, the markets for subsea cables and extra-high-voltage cables, which are essential for long-distance, high-capacity transmission, are also growing rapidly.
Kim also attended a power infrastructure industry event hosted by a global partner and introduced Hoban Group's future business direction and Taihan Cable & Solution's technological competitiveness to officials from energy infrastructure developers and investment firms.
Kim then visited Amstelveen, the Netherlands, where Taihan Cable & Solution's Europe headquarters is located, to review a market strategy centered on high value-added products such as subsea cables, HVDC, and aging power grid replacement solutions, which are seeing growing demand in the European market, and encouraged local employees.
To expand in the European market, Taihan Cable & Solution is strengthening its local business base. After establishing a U.K. branch in 2017, it newly set up a Dutch subsidiary in 2019 and expanded and reorganized into a Europe headquarters system.
Currently, Taihan Cable & Solution's Europe headquarters operates a total of five branches, including in Denmark, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, and one subsidiary, carrying out extra-high-voltage power grid projects in major European countries.
In particular, it is focusing on advancing business capabilities by expanding its global sales network centered on subsea cables and HVDC.
Kim said, "Europe is a key global market where eco-friendly energy transition and power grid advancement are progressing rapidly," adding, "We will continue to strengthen the growth base of future core businesses by expanding strategic partnerships in the renewable energy sector."
