Proptech corporations Loca101 said on the 20th it will open a women-only capsule hotel in Gwan-su-dong, Jongno District, Seoul. Loca101 is a corporations that converts idle and aging urban spaces into lodging and residential spaces and operates them. Based on demand from foreign tourists, single-person households, and short-term stays, it plans and operates various city-centered stay spaces such as hostels, capsule hotels, and Pixel House (a premium gosiwon brand).
The capsule hotel in Gwan-su-dong, Jongno District, set to officially open in the third week of May, is a women-only lodging space with 36 capsules and five cabins, accommodating up to 41 people. It is equipped with shared showers, restrooms, a lounge, and a kitchen.
Because a capsule hotel is structured for many guests to stay within a limited area, the airflow inside rooms and the management of humidity and odors in bathrooms are key factors affecting stay satisfaction. In response, Loca101 adopted air-quality management solutions from Himpel, a home ventilation appliances corporations, for the capsule hotel to enhance the quality of the stay environment in city-centered lodging spaces. The ventilation air purifier brings in outside air and exhausts indoor air to manage indoor airflow, maintaining a pleasant air environment by reducing carbon dioxide (CO₂), using a filter system, and employing energy-efficiency technologies. The multifunction ventilator combines ventilation, dehumidification, heating, and drying functions, with a focus on improving comfort in bathroom environments where humidity, odors, and air stagnation are likely to occur.
A Loca101 official said, "Design and location are important in lodging spaces, but from the perspective of guests actually staying, air quality and ventilation are also very important factors," adding, "applying Himpel products to this Gwan-su-dong capsule hotel was a decision to create a more pleasant and healthy stay environment."
