Hanwha Co., Ltd.'s construction division said on the 19th it developed the next-generation ceiling-mounted electric-vehicle charging system "EV Airstation," which adds fire detection, and will begin full-scale rollout at Hanwha Foreena complexes.
EV Airstation is the first domestic EV charging system in which the connector descends from the ceiling. By applying intelligent power distribution technology, one charger can charge three vehicles simultaneously, improving space efficiency and user convenience.
The product addresses both the "fire risk" and "charger shortage" issues of existing EV charging facilities. It received the "Top Innovation Award" at the 2025 Future Innovation Technology Expo, recognizing its excellence and raising expectations as a next-generation EV charging platform.
The model is equipped with ▲ a fire detection sensor ▲ a fire detection camera ▲ PLC (Power Line Communication) capable of battery–charger information exchange, enabling early detection of anomalies and preemptively blocking fire risks.
Existing EV charging facilities have faced installation difficulties due to "space occupancy" and "power supply" issues, but EV Airstation can be freely installed by utilizing the ceiling and maximizes operational efficiency with power distribution technology, improving these problems.
Hanwha Co., Ltd.'s construction division plans to prioritize supplying the next-generation EV charging system "EV Airstation" to Hanwha Foreena move-in complexes this year.
Under the Act on the Development and Promotion of Environment-Friendly Motor Vehicles (Eco-friendly Vehicle Act), it is mandatory to install EV charging facilities for at least 10% of total parking spaces in ▲ multiunit housing ▲ public-use facilities (public institutions; office, cultural, retail, lodging, medical, and sports facilities, etc.), and related demand is expected to increase rapidly.
Accordingly, requests to adopt EV Airstation are increasing across various sectors—including public institutions, general buildings, and already-occupied apartment complexes—that highly rate the product's innovativeness, and full-scale commercialization is expected to proceed starting this year.
Earlier, in Dec. last year, Hanwha Co., Ltd.'s construction division signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) for the first pilot introduction of a next-generation "ceiling-mounted EV charging system." Through the agreement held at LH headquarters in Jinju, South Gyeongsang Province, EV Airstation will be installed for the first time at LH complexes: the Gwacheon S11BL Happy Housing and the Daegu Yeonho A2BL apartment complex.
Kim Min-seok, head of the building business division at Hanwha Co., Ltd.'s construction division, said, "EV Airstation is an innovative EV charging solution that meets EV charging facility standards without space constraints, including fire detection technology," adding, "Starting with Hanwha Foreena complexes, we will focus our capabilities on providing EV users with safe and convenient charging infrastructure."
