Hyphen Design, the office interior brand of Fastfive, said on the 12th that it published the "2026 office interior benchmark report."
The report was compiled based on a survey of 328 people, including 220 managers who carried out office interiors from May to September 2025 and 108 managers who plan to do so.
The survey found that 76.8% of corporations that experienced interiors faced schedule delays. The causes cited were design changes (29.4%), on-site conditions (24.7%), and internal decision-making delays (17.8%).
The perceived hurdles differed depending on interior experience. Those without experience picked "setting an appropriate budget (64.8%)" as the biggest difficulty, while those with experience pointed to "design planning and concept finalization (48.2%)" as the main task.
By industry, demand for office improvements stood out among IT and software corporations. Among respondents with interior experience, that sector selected "need to expand or reduce office space (71.8%)" as the main reason, followed by "improved employee satisfaction and benefits (64.8%)" and "better work efficiency (59.2%)." Budgets most commonly fell in the 100 million–300 million won range at 32.4%.
For space composition, lounges and break areas emerged as the most important elements. Among the 220 experienced respondents, 54.5% cited those spaces as important, a higher share than workspaces (50.0%) and conference rooms (49.5%).
Digital transformation and smart office infrastructure also emerged as key considerations. Among experienced respondents, 51.8% selected them as factors influencing interior decisions, a level similar to expense reduction (52.7%).
Chief Executive Kim Dae-il of Fastfive said, "Office interiors are projects consolidated to organizational operation strategies beyond space design," adding, "We will identify schedule delay risks and design variables in advance to contribute to building an efficient work environment."
