Samsung C&T's construction division said on the 29th that it posted 111.0 billion won in operating profit in the first quarter (January to March) of this year. Operating profit fell about 30.2% from a year earlier due to the reflection of one-off expense and the completion of large projects.
First-quarter revenue was 3.413 trillion won, down 5.7% (207.0 billion won) from a year earlier. Operating profit in the same period was 111.0 billion won, down 30.2% from 159.0 billion won a year earlier. Compared with the previous quarter, revenue fell 631.0 billion won (15.6%) and operating profit fell 37.0 billion won (25.0%).
A Samsung C&T official said, "Revenue and operating profit decreased from a year earlier due to factors including the reflection of one-off expense and the impact of completing large projects," and added, "Gradual performance improvement is expected as key businesses proceed stably."
