Vice Minister Kim Ei-tak of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport met with Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono, deputy speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) of Indonesia, on the afternoon of the 24th at the National Territorial Development Exhibition Hall in Jung-gu, Seoul, to discuss cooperation plans in the infrastructure sector between the two countries.
The meeting was arranged at the request of the Indonesian side to share Korea's systems and experience in infrastructure and to discuss cooperation plans for infrastructure projects between the two countries, following the Korea-Indonesia summit held on the 1st of this month.
Deputy Speaker Yudhoyono expressed interest in Korea's infrastructure policies and experience. In response, the Vice Minister introduced Korea's achievements in infrastructure development, investment development support systems, and the K-City network project, and asked for Indonesia's interest and support regarding the Jakarta light rail project and the establishment of a new capital Smart City center under official development assistance (ODA).
The Vice Minister said, "I hope this meeting will serve as an opportunity to strengthen the cooperation framework in infrastructure fields such as sustainable transport infrastructure, Smart City, and land and transport ODA with Indonesia, and to further expand exchanges between the two countries."
