LX Hausys said on the 22nd that it is leading Korea's eco-friendly interior market, backed by the industry's highest number of Environmental Product Declaration and low-carbon product certifications.
LX Hausys holds the industry's highest number of Environmental Product Declaration and low-carbon certifications. According to the status of certified products released by the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute, as of the end of March, LX Hausys had secured 46 Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) for major products such as flooring, wallpaper, insulation, and interior film. Among them, 25 are low-carbon product certifications.
Environmental Product Declaration certification is a system that quantitatively calculates and discloses environmental impacts, including greenhouse gases, throughout the entire life cycle of products and services. Low-carbon products are those among EPD-certified products whose carbon footprint values are below the standard threshold.
According to last year's LX Hausys ESG report, eco-friendly product lines that obtained Environmental Product Declaration and environmental labels accounted for about 30% of total sales.
Notably, the "Diamant" wallpaper has not only a thicker gauge and a distinctive design than ordinary wallpaper but also obtained Environmental Product Declaration certification. The "X-Comfort 4.5 (Z:IN Sound-Absorb)" flooring secured low-carbon product certification as well as functionality to reduce everyday noise (lightweight impact noise).
LX Hausys is expanding sustainable building materials. After launching the industry's first "recycled furniture film" made from materials and supplies using recycled plastic PET bottles, it introduced "Bio SMR furniture film" last year, applying plant-derived materials and supplies. SMR (Super Matt Resist) is LX Hausys' special coating with excellent surface properties compared with ordinary matte coatings.
In addition, LX Hausys separately launched a product line of the artificial marble "HI-MACS," made by using scrap material recycled from production and processing and materials and supplies from recycling, and, with recognition for both the use of recycled materials and supplies and quality performance, is increasing exports not only in Korea but also to regions such as Europe where eco-friendly building material markets are active.
An LX Hausys official said, "As the voices of 'green consumers' who prefer products that protect the global environment grow louder in domestic and overseas building material markets, the market is being reorganized around eco-friendly products, and we plan to continue expanding our eco-friendly product lineup."
