Daebang Construction said on the 21st that it has been excluded from the list of top builders for apartment defect rulings, continuing its quality control performance.
According to the list of the "top 20 builders for apartment defect rulings in the first half of 2026" released by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Daebang Construction did not rank in either the most recent six-month or five-year cumulative categories.
Lawsuits over apartment defects have recently emerged as a major issue in the construction industry. According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, an annual average of about 4,600 defect-related disputes have been handled over the past five years, and 68.3% of defect reviews received from 2021 through February 2026 were ruled as actual defects. As a result, the history of defects and the speed of after-service responses are becoming key indicators for assessing a builder's credibility.
Daebang Construction operates a companywide quality control system focused on strengthening construction quality management, minimizing defects, and responding quickly after completion. It conducts quality inspections throughout the entire process from design to construction to post-completion, with the headquarters' architecture team visiting sites directly to check in advance for the possibility of defects.
It is also analyzing defect types based on site data and continuously improving construction guidelines to apply them across all sites. If defects occur, it focuses on responding quickly on site before disputes escalate, minimizing inconvenience for residents.
The government is also pursuing policies to strengthen quality control standards for apartments. Business entities that receive defect rulings must complete repairs within 60 days, and a system to inform applicants of the results of repair fulfillment is also set to be introduced.
A Daebang Construction official said, "The core of residential products is quality and trust," adding, "We will continue to advance our quality management system based on site data."
