Daewoo Engineering & Construction said on the 15th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea Electric Power Corporation for the "advancement of tunnel boring machine (TBM) design technology."
A TBM is a large excavation machine used in tunnel construction for railways, roads, and power ducts. Selecting equipment suited to ground conditions and devising an operating plan are key factors that determine a project's success or failure.
Through this agreement, the two companies decided to establish a comprehensive cooperation system covering research and development related to TBM projects and broad technical exchanges.
A Daewoo Engineering & Construction official said the company "is carrying out a range of infrastructure projects, including railways and roads," and noted it "plans to further strengthen its technology by systematically using data accumulated during TBM construction."
