Daewoo Engineering & Construction said on the 13th that it created a "data center TFT (task force team)" to secure competitiveness in the data center business and expand into overseas markets.
The TFT will serve as a control tower. It plans to oversee strategies for entering domestic and overseas markets, pre-checks of risks at each business stage, and expansion of collaboration networks. A Daewoo Engineering & Construction official said, "Ultimately, we aim to transform into a developer that directly leads the entire process, from site acquisition, permits, and design to investment and operation, rather than remaining a contractor."
Daewoo Engineering & Construction completed the 40MW "Empirion Digital AI Campus" in Gangnam, Seoul, in June last year, and is currently participating as an investor and contractor in the 60MW "Jangseong Pine Data Center," the first data center in South Jeolla. Overseas, it is also reviewing entry into Southeast Asian markets, including Vietnam.
A Daewoo Engineering & Construction official said, "Data centers are core infrastructure of the artificial intelligence (AI) era that will drive both regional economies and national competitiveness," adding, "We will strengthen development capabilities with the TFT at the center and accelerate efforts to pioneer overseas markets."
