Dongbu Corporation said on the 7th it won the bid for the "Bucheon-area power supply facility cable tunnel construction" ordered by Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO). The total contract is 35.3 billion won, and Dongbu Corporation will lead the consortium as the managing company with a 70% equity share. The construction period is 18 months from the start date.
The project will build an underground power corridor within the Bucheon Daejang public housing district in Ojeong District, Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province. It will construct an open-cut power tunnel totaling 3,006 meters from the Jung-dong–Gogang sections 1–2 shaft to the section 3 shaft, as well as six connection manholes, a branching structure, and seven standalone catch basins.
With this award, Dongbu Corporation has achieved about 680 billion won in new orders this year. In addition to recording about 210 billion won in the public works sector, it posted solid results in the private sector and urban renewal projects as well.
A Dongbu Corporation official said, "We are strengthening our order-taking structure by diversifying our business portfolio and reducing reliance on specific business groups," adding, "We will build competitiveness around projects that can secure both stability and profitability."
