DL E&C will set a new benchmark for supertall construction in "Apgujeong District 5" through collaboration with global corporations that possess world-class design and construction technology for supertall buildings.
DL E&C said on the 6th that it is pursuing strategic collaboration with the United Kingdom's "ARUP," renowned worldwide in supertall structural design, and Austria's "DOKA," a global leading corporation in structural frame construction control.
DL E&C met with ARUP and DOKA officials who visited Korea in the previous month and wrapped up discussions on design and construction technology for supertall buildings. They agreed to bring together their core strengths and apply to Apgujeong District 5 technologies that maximize safety and construction efficiency.
ARUP is the No. 1 corporation in the world for "supertall building design track record," certified by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH). It handled numerous designs, including the supertall landmark "The Shard" in London, the integrated resort "Marina Bay Sands" in Singapore, and "Muraba Vale" in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
DL E&C will apply to Apgujeong District 5, for the first time in Korea, "Ovabacus," an artificial intelligence (AI)-based generative design program developed by ARUP. Ovabacus is a program that derives the most optimized structural floor plan through extensive computer simulations based on architectural planning. This is the first application of Ovabacus to a residential project in Korea.
DL E&C also joined hands with DOKA, known for its ultra-precise structural frame construction solutions, to strengthen construction competitiveness in Apgujeong District 5, which will be developed as a supertall landmark apartment complex along the Han River. DOKA has proven its technology by delivering fast, safe construction and high quality through automation-based digital solutions on global supertall projects such as "Merdeka 118" in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and "432 Park Avenue" in New York, United States.
Earlier, in Aug. last year, DL E&C signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with DOKA on supertall buildings in Korea, establishing a collaborative relationship. In Apgujeong District 5, the company plans to maximize the safety of supertall construction technology based on DOKA's ultra-precise automated measurement system. In particular, DL E&C will combine its proprietary "data-driven real-time quality management system (D-DQMS)" to minimize process risks while securing both construction speed and quality.
Through this collaboration, DL E&C aims to make Apgujeong District 5 a symbolic project that presents a new standard for supertall construction through global technology convergence. DL E&C has already secured a standout design by collaborating with the global architecture, engineering, and consulting group "Arcadis."
A DL E&C official said, "We have completed preparations with the world's top experts in each field to realize Apgujeong District 5, Korea's top-tier residential project, as a global landmark," adding, "DL E&C will open a new horizon in supertall construction technology at Apgujeong District 5."
