Seoul Housing and Urban Development Corporation (SH) said on the 30th that it will push ahead in earnest with a project to integrate the Guro Municipal Library site through cooperation with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education.
Guro Municipal Library is located in a commercial area with high growth potential, but it is currently used only as a library facility.
SH, together with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the owner of the land, and the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, which operates the library, drew up a mixed-use project model that combines housing and public facilities, and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the 26th.
The core of the mixed-use project is to transform the site into a complex space centered on a public library, combined with convenience facilities such as stores and 126 units of long-term jeonse housing. An SH official said, "We expect it will make full use of public land and increase basic living facilities, greatly helping to improve local residents' living environment, modernize old public facilities, and stabilize housing."
Hwang Sang-ha, SH president, said, "This project will serve as an opportunity to modernize the region's old public facilities and present a new mixed-use development model that brings together housing, education, and cultural functions," adding, "SH will work closely with related agencies to carry out the project without a hitch."
