Huh Yoon-hong, CEO of GS Engineering & Construction, said at the 2026 executives' workshop that the company will secure its competitiveness through on-site innovation centered on physical AI (artificial intelligence). Physical AI is technology in which robots or devices equipped with AI operate in the real world.
GS Engineering & Construction held an executives' workshop over two days from the 25th to the 26th at the Elysian Learning Center in Yongin, Gyeonggi, with more than 110 executives from GS Engineering & Construction and its subsidiaries in attendance, including CEO Huh Yoon-hong.
At the workshop, external lectures by AI experts were given under the themes "the role of leaders in the AI era" and "physical AI trends and the structure for applying robot technology to industrial sites." This was followed by a sharing session among relevant departments within GS Engineering & Construction on data-structuring strategies for how AI operates in the construction field.
Next, executives were divided into four groups according to the roles of their respective organizations to review expected benefits from introducing physical AI and scenarios for introducing it on sites. They then discussed establishing differentiated strategies in stages such as design and bidding, and a sustainable operating system for organizational management that will change when robots are introduced.
Huh said, I expect that the discussions from this workshop will actually work on sites, be shared with members, and lead to tangible change.
GS Engineering & Construction said, This year, we see physical AI as a key pillar that will determine the company's future competitiveness, and we plan to build a new construction paradigm of "designing with AI and building with robots" by internalizing data-driven decision-making and the use of robots across the entire value chain spanning bidding, design, construction, and operation.
