HanmiGlobal, Korea's No. 1 construction project management (PM) firm, said on the 24th it won a PM services contract to support the selection of an architect for the reconstruction of the Olympic Media Village Apartments in Songpa District, Seoul (hereafter the Olympic Athletes' Village reconstruction).
The Olympic Athletes' Village reconstruction is an urban renewal project in 89 Bangi-dong, Songpa District, Seoul, and is a mega-scale redevelopment planning a new total floor area of 2,042,465.01 square meters, 4 basement levels to a maximum of 45 stories, 9,218 housing units (including 750 rental units), and neighborhood living facilities.
The Olympic Athletes' Village reconstruction is currently at the promotion committee stage for establishing a cooperative, and the approval rate among owners of dwellings and land is said to have already met the legal requirement (70%) for forming a cooperative. To accelerate the project after establishing the formal cooperative in the second half of this year, the promotion committee held a residents' general meeting on the 22nd and completed selecting specialized partner firms in each field, including HanmiGlobal, which will handle support for architect selection. The main project services will be awarded after the cooperative is formed, through the board of directors and the delegates' general meeting.
Through this contract, HanmiGlobal will provide professional support across the entire architect selection process. Key tasks include establishing criteria for selecting and managing architects so that preliminary cooperative members' requirements can be reflected in the design, reviewing the project plan and design conditions, and examining the legal compliance and planning adequacy of design proposals.
