Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) said on the 20th it has been designated as the project implementer for Zone 9-2, a leading district in Sanbon New Town in Gunpo.
Gunpo Sanbon Zone 9-2 (planned 3,376 households) was designated and announced as a special maintenance zone in Dec. last year under the Special Act on Maintenance and Support for Aging Planned Cities. Following the fastest completion of maintenance zone designation among leading districts in the first-phase new towns with LH participation, it also became the first to be designated as the project implementer.
LH plans to sign a project implementation agreement with the residents' representative council in April and, based on mutual cooperation with residents, swiftly push ahead with subsequent procedures such as selecting a builder, obtaining project implementation approval, and establishing a management and disposal plan.
Kang O-sun, head of LH's Regional Balance Headquarters, said, "The designation of the project implementer for the Gunpo Sanbon special maintenance zone, the first of the first-phase new towns, is the result of residents' strong will combined with public support," adding, "We will do our best to implement it so it can become a successful model for the redevelopment of the first-phase new towns."
LH has also completed applying for designation as the project implementer for Gunpo Sanbon Zone 11 (planned 3,892 households), in which it is participating as the preliminary project implementer. Once the implementer designation is completed, it plans to proceed with subsequent procedures in cooperation with the residents' representative council.
