Hanwha Co. said on the 20th that it was selected for "carbon management sector honors" in the industrial institutional sector at the "2025 CDP Korea Awards," hosted by the Korea committee of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), on Mar. 10, marking its third straight year of honors.
CDP is a global nonprofit that asks major corporations worldwide to disclose environment-related management information on climate change, water security, forest resources, and biodiversity, analyzes it, and publishes reports for investors and stakeholders. In 2025, about 22,100 corporations were evaluated, and 4% of them received an A rating.
Carbon management sector honors is an award given by CDP to corporations that achieved outstanding results by institutional sector in the 2025 climate change response assessment. Hanwha Co. achieved excellent results, including earning the top "Leadership A" rating for the second consecutive year in the industrial institutional sector.
Hanwha Co. has joined K-RE100 (Korean RE100), expressing its commitment to source 100% of its electricity use from renewable energy, and has made ongoing efforts to respond to climate change. Since 2025, it has been procuring 5 MW of renewable electricity through a direct power purchase agreement (PPA) and steadily advancing greenhouse gas reduction and energy efficiency activities at its business sites.
It is also operating companywide processes for mid- to long-term climate and environmental risk management, including managing Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions, analyzing climate risks and water stress, and assessing natural capital impacts.
Kim Nam-uk, head of the environmental management module of the ESG council at Hanwha Co., who attended the awards ceremony, said, "Being selected for CDP carbon management sector honors for three consecutive years shows Hanwha Co.'s continuous and systematic efforts to respond to the climate change crisis," adding, "We will continue to put ESG management into practice."
