WOOMI Construction Co. will develop a medical complex town in Dongtan 2 New Town in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi.

WOOMI Construction Co. said on the 19th that a consortium including the company and Korea University Hospital signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hwaseong City and Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) for the "Hwaseong Dongtan 2 general hospital attraction package-type development project."

The project will use land designated for medical facilities and urban support facilities within the Hwaseong Dongtan 2 housing site development district to build a tertiary general hospital (700 beds or more), an apartment complex with 4,300 households, a convalescent rehabilitation hospital, senior welfare housing, and officetels, creating a medical hub for southern metropolitan areas.

Through the agreement, WOOMI Construction Co. will be responsible for constructing hospital support facilities and overseeing the project overall. Korea University Medical Center plans to implement an academic-based medical system that encompasses not only critical, emergency, and specialized care but also research and education.

Kim Young-gil, president of WOOMI Construction Co., said, "We will reinvest project revenue into the hospital and pursue a highly public-minded development model that contributes to the local community, making it a trusted landmark for residents."
