HDC Holdings Co. held a ceremony marking its 50th anniversary on the 18th at Dragon City in Yongsan District, Seoul, and stated accordingly. At the event, HDC Holdings Co. unveiled its future vision for the next 50 years and announced a new slogan, CI, and a growth roadmap to embody it.
Chair Jung Mong-gyu of HDC Holdings Co., CEO Do Ki-tak of HDC Holdings Co., and CEO Jung Kyung-gu of HDC Hyundai Development Company were among key group executives and current and former employees in attendance, along with former President Lee Myung-bak, Nowon District Mayor Oh Seung-rok, and former Korea Football Association Vice President Lee Hoe-taek, as well as figures from politics, business, society, and sports.
In congratulatory remarks, Chair Jung said, "If the past 50 years of HDC Holdings Co. were the time when we shaped the appearance of Korea's cities and led residential culture, the next 50 years will be a journey of delivering greater value to customers through organic combinations that cross the boundaries of each business area," adding, "We must now go beyond a simple construction company to be 'generalized specialists' who design life platforms, circulate energy, and innovate with AI (artificial intelligence)."
Former President Lee, who served as the 2nd and 4th CEO of Korea Urban Development, said, "The late Honorary Chair Chung Se-young's philosophy of 'principled management' is the unwavering root of the group's growth," and added, "HDC Holdings Co., which has added innovation atop the solid foundation of principled management, will lead the times over the next 50 years as well."
At the ensuing ceremony, HDC Holdings Co. declared a vision to move beyond the framework of a simple construction corporations and to be reborn as a corporations that provides immense value to customers, and announced the new slogan "To the Greater Value" and a new CI that capture the vision.
The new CI expresses HDC Holdings Co.'s vision of linking and expanding the four core values through expertise in diverse fields, based on the "foundation of greater value." The rectangular structure of the new symbol signifies the foundation where all value begins and HDC Holdings Co.'s expertise and heritage, while the form blending curves and circles signifies open thinking and integrative thinking, in which values from different domains are organically consolidated to create a single harmony.
It also embodies HDC Holdings Co.'s future-oriented vision of continually opening new possibilities through a "Moving Continuum," a structure that expands rather than taking a completed form. At its center is the "Invisible H," which supports the flow and balance of the structure, and is said to symbolize the essential force of HDC Holdings Co.'s philosophy that enables all consolidation and expansion.
To secure future growth engines, HDC Holdings Co. will overhaul the group portfolio into three major institutional sectors: LIFE, AI, and ENERGY. The LIFE institutional sector will focus on building a lifestyle platform, while the AI and ENERGY institutional sectors will pioneer a sustainable future through digital transformation and strengthening the energy value chain, respectively. To successfully carry out these changes in business structure, the company will establish a new identity as "generalized specialists" and accelerate organizational culture innovation around four core values: expertise, integrative thinking, drive, and consideration.
With the portfolio overhaul, the brand system will also undergo a sweeping revamp. Affiliates in the LIFE business institutional sector will put "IPARK" at the forefront instead of the existing "HDC." Accordingly, HDC Hyundai Development Company will change its name to "IPARK Hyundai Development," and major LIFE institutional sector affiliates such as IPARK Mall and IPARK Resort will also change their names after shareholder approval. In contrast, affiliates in the AI and ENERGY institutional sectors will retain the existing HDC brand to clarify each business area's expertise.
