Daewoo Engineering & Construction said on the 18th that CEO Kim Bo-hyeon and employees visited the planned construction site of the Gadeokdo New Airport on the 17th to inspect on-site conditions and discuss ways to cooperate on the project.
The site visit was arranged to directly check the site's topographical features and the environment of the planned sea reclamation area before full-scale construction begins. Key company executives and employees, including Civil Engineering Division head Sim Cheol-jin, attended.
On the day, Kim visited major points including the Daehang Observatory, Oyangpo Port, Saebaji Port and Yeondaebong to check the terrain and surrounding environment of the planned airport site and nearby waters. Kim ordered, "Because the Gadeokdo New Airport project is a high-difficulty construction that requires both sea reclamation and large-scale soft-ground treatment at the same time, we will concentrate differentiated construction methods and technological capabilities from the design stage." Kim also said, "Keep in mind the symbolism of this national project and put safety first, and from the early stages of the project, make thorough advance preparations to strictly adhere to the schedule."
Afterward, Kim visited the headquarters of the Gadeokdo New Airport Construction Authority in Gangseo District, Busan, held an initial meeting with Authority Chairman Lee Yun-sang, shared the status of the project's progress and discussed various cooperation measures.
Kim said, "We will apply the optimal alternative construction methods from the design stage and enhance project stability through thorough process management," adding, "We will not limit ourselves to the role of the constructor but approach the project with the mindset of being the project owner, mobilizing the company's full capabilities." Kim continued, "For successful, on-time completion, swift administrative action by the government and the client is essential," and said, "We ask for the Authority's full support not only in coordination and permits with the local community, local governments and related agencies, but also in resolving all related matters such as compensation."
