A 28-story mixed-use building will rise around Najin buildings 19 and 20 in the Yongsan Electronics Market.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government said on the 11th that it passed the architectural plan titled "New construction project for office facilities in the area of Najin buildings 19 and 20 (Special Planning Zone 10) within the Yongsan Electronics Market" at the second Architectural Committee meeting held on the 10th.
The site, around 15-13, Hangang-ro 2-ga in Yongsan District, will receive a floor area ratio of 1,000%, allowing for a mixed-use building with eight basement levels and 28 above-ground stories, totaling 97,857㎡ of gross floor area.
The building will be used as office facilities to foster an ecosystem for future industries, including artificial intelligence (AI). The lower floors will house cultural and assembly facilities, such as a gallery where citizens and tenants can enjoy cultural activities in daily life, along with neighborhood living facilities.
The building will feature a "sky garden" that connects circulation vertically from the first floor above ground to the rooftop on the top floor.
Choi Jin-seok, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Dwellings Bureau, said, "The approval by the Architectural Committee will be an important milestone for the Yongsan Electronics Market area to reemerge as a core urban axis of future Seoul, linked with the nearby Yongsan International Business District."
