The Seoul Metropolitan Government said on the 10th that it selected the winning design in a competition to build the contributed acceptance facility of the Seobu Truck Terminal urban high-tech logistics complex development project in Sinjeong-dong, Yangcheon-gu, as a mixed-use public office facility.
With an investment of about 17.8 billion won, this facility will be built with a total floor area of 5,000㎡ and is expected to be used as a startup support facility for prospective founders and as an integrated situation room for the Gangseo Road Office.
The winning entry, "Floating Cube," is a joint work by Hoga Architects and the Korea National University of Cultural Heritage. It proposed ways to reveal the identity of public facilities and enhance publicness while smoothly consolidation the rear logistics complex on the site with the front park.
The jury said it was "a proposal that stands out for its insight into the changing surrounding environment and its innovative core design," adding that it is "a work that, based on a concise yet strong composition, has the scalability to use the space in diverse and flexible ways."
The urban high-tech logistics complex development project held a groundbreaking ceremony in Nov. last year and is set to break ground in the second half of this year, and the contributed acceptance facility is scheduled to start construction in 2030 and be completed in 2032.
Kim Yong-hak, director-general for future spatial planning at the Seoul Metropolitan Government, said, "This competition is the fourth contributed acceptance facility design competition promoted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, and we selected the optimal proposal that balances flexible usability and publicness by leveraging the characteristics of public office facilities."
