Daewoo Engineering & Construction said on the 9th that starting this year it plans to fully introduce the universal digital transformation (DX) solution "Q-Box" at new construction sites.
Q-Box is an integrated quality management solution based on cloud and smart devices, developed to boost work efficiency and productivity with the goal of digitally transforming on-site quality management tasks.
Daewoo Engineering & Construction expects the full rollout of Q-Box to shorten on-site quality task time and reduce expense. A pilot test last year confirmed that document work time was cut by more than 90%.
Daewoo Engineering & Construction developed Q-Box, an integrated on-site quality management solution, in 2024 as part of the national research and development project "Smart Construction Technology Development Project." In the process, it developed and applied a "site form automatic mapping technology (patent)" for form compatibility across various documents, a "Construction Safety Integrated Information System (CSI) quality test automatic registration technology," and a Metaverse-based "3-dimensional (3D) digital cabinet (patent)."
Daewoo Engineering & Construction piloted Q-Box at six sites last year, including four sites under the Yangpyeong–Icheon Expressway project group, Baegun Lake Prugio, and Yeongtong Prugio. Analysis showed a 92.3% reduction in document work time, enabling a task that previously required 10 hours to be completed in one hour.
A Daewoo Engineering & Construction official said, "Q-Box is a core technology that transforms the construction site culture that had been trapped in vast amounts of paperwork," adding, "By expanding it to all sites this year, we will establish ourselves as a smart construction leader spearheading digital transformation."
