Booyoung Group said on the 2nd that it appointed former Minister of Construction and Transportation and Minister of Interior Lee Yong-seop as its new chair.
After passing the 14th higher civil service exam, the new chair served in key state posts, including commissioner of the Korea Customs Service, commissioner of the National Tax Service, Minister of Interior, Minister of Construction and Transportation, vice chair of the Presidential Committee on Jobs, and senior secretary for innovation management at the presidential office, and is a career orthodox economic bureaucrat. Lee served as a lawmaker in the 18th and 19th National Assemblies and, as the elected seventh-term mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City, led policies such as the Gwangju-style job initiative.
Booyoung Group assessed Lee as an innovator with deep insight and extensive experience not only in real estate and construction policy but also across administration and the broader economy. The company said it appointed Lee because it judged that, by strengthening fundamentals and leading the changing business environment, he is the right person to build a foundation for Booyoung Group's sustainable growth.
