Samsung C&T will unveil world-class design to turn the Apgujeong District 4 reconstruction into a landmark that becomes the new center of the Apgujeong area.
Samsung C&T's construction division (hereafter Samsung C&T) said on the 13th that it will collaborate with the United Kingdom–based global architecture firm Foster+Partners, led by master architect Norman Foster, to create an innovative alternative design for Apgujeong District 4.
Norman Foster, who swept all of architecture's highest honors—including the Pritzker Prize (1999), often called the Nobel of architecture, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Gold Medal, and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Royal Gold Medal—is regarded as one of the most influential architects in the world today.
Foster+Partners is a global architectural powerhouse that has built its reputation by designing iconic buildings in major cities worldwide, including Apple Park in California, London City Hall, the Hong Kong HSBC headquarters, and ICD Brookfield Place in Dubai.
To create a landmark complex for Apgujeong, the key is a facade design that harmonizes with the urban landscape while dominating its surroundings. The layout also focuses on capturing locational advantages and member needs by maximizing Han River views and daylight while protecting privacy.
The company will also unveil a tailored design that optimizes residents' daily flows and living convenience through a community structure that connects the entire complex into a single organic space.
Lim Cheol-jin, head of housing sales at Samsung C&T, said, "Apgujeong District 4 will set a new standard for the Apgujeong reconstruction," adding, "We will design the best future value befitting the area's unrivaled symbolism."
