Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND) said on the 11th that it formed a public-private "Team Korea" and completed the investment execution in the logistics center in Katowice, Poland.
Katowice, the project site, is the center of Silesia, Poland's largest industrial rent(expense), and is regarded as a key logistics hub connecting all of Europe based on excellent consolidation with major neighboring countries such as Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
The project was promoted to strengthen the global logistics network competitiveness of Korea's corporations and secure the stability of global supply chains. KIND completed this investment based on collaboration with LX Pantos, the PIS fund and Korea Ocean Business Corporation (KOBC). The PIS (Global Plant, Infrastructure, Smart City) fund is a policy fund created under the leadership of the government and public institutions to support overseas plant, infrastructure and Smart City construction projects by Korean companies, and public institutions including KIND invested in it.
This project is KIND's first case of executing an investment in a logistics facility in Europe, and it led the capital raise as an anchor investor by linking direct investment with the PIS policy fund and being directly and indirectly involved in 65% of the financing.
Based on this, it is expected to lead the preemptive securing of a logistics bridgehead in Eastern Europe for Korea's corporations and generate an overseas order inducement effect of about $148 million.
A KIND official said, "As a specialized overseas investment institution, we will continue to provide all-around support so that our country's corporations can gain an edge in overseas orders and investment development-type projects in Europe."
