The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said Vice Minister Kim Ei-tak attended the eighth graduation ceremony of the Overseas Construction and Plant Meister High School (Seoul Urban Science and Technology High School) in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 6th and congratulated the graduates.
Kim, the Vice Minister, said in a congratulatory address, "Inheriting the miracle of $1 trillion in cumulative overseas construction orders, I ask you to build your expertise on sites around the world and take on challenges proactively with your own fresh perspectives and sensibilities."
Kim, the Vice Minister, then encouraged students and officials by presenting the Minister's Award to outstanding graduates and delivering letters of appreciation to corporations that have provided training sites and promoted hiring.
Seoul Urban Science and Technology High School is Korea's only Overseas Construction and Plant Meister High School, and since its designation as a Meister high school in 2016, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) has supported on-site education such as overseas field training and study programs. It is conducting specialized education by hub, including in 2024 in Hungary (training at the Hankook Tire Rácalmás plant), in 2025 in Poland (on-site training at POSCO's waste incinerator), and in the Czech Republic (training at the Doosan Škoda Power power equipment plant).
Among the eighth graduating class, 81.2% (69 students) have secured employment or are in the hiring process at large corporations and mid-sized construction companies. Since 2019 (the first graduating class), the average employment rate has been about 85.8%, contributing to the training of professionals in overseas construction.
