The Seoul city government said on Feb. 5 that it held the second Urban Planning Commission meeting on Feb. 4 and approved with modifications the designation of a maintenance zone and the maintenance plan for the "Yeouidaebang Station area long-term jeonse housing urban renewal–type redevelopment project" in the area of 1343 Singil-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu.
The site is an old low-rise residential area adjacent to Daebang Station on Line No. 1, with an area of 14,923㎡. A total of 592 apartment units in six buildings, ranging from four underground floors to up to 40 aboveground floors (176 long-term jeonse housing units and 35 redevelopment mandatory rental units), are slated to be built.
The city also plans to overhaul the traffic system around Daebang Station, where congestion has been frequent, by newly building roads on the west (8m) and east (10m) sides of the site and widening the southern road of the site (Yeouidaebang-ro 61-gil) from 6m to 10m.
A Seoul city official said the decision on the maintenance plan will improve the poor residential environment near Daebang Station and make a significant contribution to stabilizing housing for low- and middle-income residents by supplying high-quality long-term jeonse housing.
